Description
Vertical Busbar Current Transformer – 40×80 mm
VIPS 1041V – 83 vertical CT for 40×80 mm busbar. Accuracy class 1 with 15 VA burden; primary 1250A, secondary 5A. Suitable for switchgear, distribution systems, gensets, and control panels.
Vertical busbar current transformers (CTs) mount directly on flat copper or aluminium busbars, presenting a rectangular window that the conductor passes through. They step high primary currents down to a safe, standard secondary (5 A or 1 A) for metering and protection, with galvanic isolation.
Why choose vertical busbar CTs? They provide accurate measurement for billing and power quality analysis, dependable inputs for overcurrent and earth-fault relays, and safer maintenance because technicians handle only the low-voltage secondary. The slim, vertical profile follows the busbar stack, saving panel depth and wiring space, ideal for MDBs, SMDBs, MCCs, gensets, UPS boards, and solar inverter panels.
Selection tips: match the primary ratio to feeder rating; confirm the CT window suits the busbar size and insulation; choose accuracy class (0.2S for precision metering, 0.5 for general metering, 1 for protection); and ensure the rated burden exceeds meters, relays, and lead losses.
Installation essentials: keep polarity P1→source, P2→load; fit a shorting link; never open-circuit a CT; route twisted-pair secondary leads and earth at one point. Label ratios for commissioning tests.
