What is a current transformer?
Current transformers (CTs) are essential components in transformer-rated energy meters, used to measure total power consumption and monitor current flow. Unlike self-contained energy meters commonly used in homes (where current levels are relatively low), transformer-rated energy meters are employed when current exceeds 200 Amperes, which is typical for industrial and commercial applications.

The Veritek VIPS 301 CT converts the primary high current of the electric energy being measured into a manageable, smaller secondary current.
