What is a temperature controller?

A Temperature Controller is an instrument that is used to control a heater/cooler or other thermal equipment by comparing a sensor signal with a set point (mostly user set value) and performing calculations according to the deviation between those values.  Controllers are devices that work with sensor signals other than temperatures such as humidity, pressure and flow rate.
